Equine Staff Employment

Raven’s Lodge are breeders of the purebred Friesian, and Friesian Sporthorses. We have a small band of horses, 3 Stallions, aprox 8-10 breeding mares (who are also riding horses), and youngstock ranging from weanlings to 3-4yo riding horses. We also take in outside mares for breeding purposes.

Stud promotion through displays, demonstrations, dressage and showing are a high priority to us, building a good rapport with the public, marketing horses that are still a rare breed to Australia, and continuing our reputation as leaders in this area will be something we will look for in our Trainee.

Ideally you will have prior experience in a competition or training environment, be capable of riding a basic workout, and have a basic understanding of show ringcraft, understand the fundamentals of horse husbandry, show initiative, be a self starter, and work without supervision. Previous stallion handling experience, and/or marketing experience will also be looked upon favourably.

This is a live in trainee position to assist on a performance/breeding horse property in Heywood Victoria. Remuneration in the form of free Accommodation, Food, Car, Dressage Instruction, & Riding Club Fees. Free use of swimming pool, internet, and horse facilities for those who wish to bring and continue training with their own horse.

This position is initially a volunteer position for aprox 4-5mths.
